Once an HTMA is ordered (pricing information is below), I will mail a hair sample collection kit to you. It will be sent out within 48 hours (usually sooner) after your order is placed. The collection kit will contain the following:

A brief lab form that you will need to complete.

An envelope for the hair sample to go in.

A cardboard scale that will tell you when you've collected enough hair.

A pre-addressed, stamped envelope to put your lab form and hair sample envelope in to mail directly to the lab.
You will then collect the sample in the comfort of your own home.
-- You will need approximately 1 teaspoon of hair. The scale will help you to determine when you have enough.
-- You want only the 1 inch of hair closest to the scalp. The reason for this is that the hair closest to your scalp contains the most recent data on your mineral status. That 1 inch generally shows us your mineral status from the previous 2-3 months, depending on the rate your hair grows.
-- Those with longer hair, you cut your sample, as close to the scalp as you can, and then cut approximately 1 inch up from the root end of the hair. That 1 inch is what you will send in as your sample. You can discard the remaining portion.
-- Samples are taken from 4-5 tiny areas around your head.
-- You lift up the surface hair and take from beneath so that it is not noticeable at all. If you are someone like me with short hair, it is best to use thinning shears so that the locations you take your sample from are not noticeable.
-- I have found it easiest to have a helper during the collection process, although it isn't totally necessary.
You will also receive an intake email from me that will include a detailed Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire that you will need to complete online and submit back to me. This information will be used during my interpretation of the results and creation of the report that you will receive.
The test results generally take 2-3 weeks once you have mailed the sample. During that time, you can complete the questionnaire I mentioned above and I will also be in touch with little challenges to get you motivated and ready to jump into what your next steps will be once you have your HTMA results.
Once I receive the results from the lab, you will be notified by email, and it generally takes me about a week to interpret them and create your individualized report detailing all of the results.
It's a pretty quick and seamless process! And one that you should definitely take advantage of. You deserve to have some clear answers on what you can work on to improve your overall health!
