Chocolate peppermint smoothie

There is nothing easier than throwing together a smoothie for breakfast! And when made at home with the right ingredients, they are full of health benefits.

 

This is my family's go-to Christmas morning treat. It is packed with nutritious ingredients and gets our body off to the right start, but it feels like we're having dessert for breakfast!

 

This recipe is easy to multiply if you want to make it for a larger group of family or friends that are visiting for the holidays. Just use your large blender rather than an individual cup blender to make big batches.

 

Festive Chocolate Peppermint Protein Smoothie

Makes 2 servings

 

Ingredients:

1 ripe banana

2 scoops chocolate protein powder of choice

1 handful of fresh spinach leaves

1/2 ripe avocado

1 tbsp chia seeds

1 tbsp unflavored collagen powder

2 cups almond milk or other milk of choice

1 cup ice cubes

1-2 drops peppermint essential oil, depending on how strong you want your peppermint flavor

 

Directions:

Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into cups and enjoy!

 

For an extra special treat, smoothies can be topped with whipped cream, crushed peppermint candies or peppermint leaves and/or shaved chocolate.
